Wellfound Acquires Hirefly to Expand Agentic AI Recruiting Capabilities Across Inbound and Outbound Hiring
Jan 29, 2026

Wellfound acquires Hirefly, an agentic recruiting platform automating outbound sourcing and inbound application review. The move integrates Hirefly’s AI-first workflows and customer base across startups and enterprises, strengthening Wellfound’s recruiting stack and Autopilot service.

Wellfound has acquired Hirefly, an agentic recruiting platform that automates outbound candidate sourcing and inbound application review, further strengthening its position in AI-native talent acquisition infrastructure. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition brings Hirefly’s AI-first automation technology and customer base—spanning both startups and larger enterprises—into Wellfound’s broader recruiting ecosystem. The two companies plan to focus on customer continuity, knowledge transfer, and operational integration during the transition.

Hirefly built its platform around what it calls “agentic recruiting,” where AI systems actively execute recruiting tasks rather than simply assist recruiters with analytics or dashboards. Its technology automates two of the most time-intensive parts of hiring: proactively identifying and contacting candidates, and screening inbound applications.

According to Wellfound CEO Amit Matani, Hirefly’s workflows complement Wellfound’s existing strengths, particularly its Autopilot service, which supports both inbound and outbound hiring processes. “Hirefly has built an AI-first platform for modern hiring that combines fast inbound workflows with practical outbound sourcing automation,” Matani said.

Hirefly Co-Founder and CEO Rohan Nagesh noted that Wellfound’s scale and reputation made it a natural home for the company’s customers. “Their strength across both inbound and outbound talent, especially with their Autopilot service, made them the clear choice to support our customers into the future,” he said.

Industry Context

The deal reflects a broader shift in recruiting technology toward execution-driven AI systems. Rather than focusing solely on applicant tracking or reporting tools, newer platforms increasingly embed autonomous agents that can perform sourcing, screening, and outreach with minimal human intervention.

This transition signals a structural change for talent acquisition teams. Recruiting software is evolving from workflow management systems into operational engines capable of directly completing tasks.

With the addition of Hirefly, Wellfound moves closer to offering an end-to-end, AI-powered recruiting stack that spans candidate discovery, evaluation, and engagement across both inbound and outbound channels.

As consolidation continues across HR tech, platforms that combine automation depth with integrated workflows are likely to gain an advantage over point solutions.
