Workday Candidate Profile Lets Job Seekers Reuse One Profile Across Workday Career Sites

Key facts

  • Workday announced Workday Candidate Profile at Workday Rising 2026 in Las Vegas on October 13, 2026.
  • Job seekers sign in with an email and a one-time code — no new account or password — and reuse saved contact information, work history, education and skills.
  • Workday says roughly 80% of standard fields will be pre-filled, which it expects to make applying about 40% faster than filling in the same form by hand.
  • Workday cites that 60% of candidates abandon applications because of length and friction, and that the average job search lasts 11 weeks.
  • Workday says Candidate Profile does not rank, recommend or reject candidates; it only fills in information the job seeker chose to save.
  • Employers keep their career site, screening questions, validations and recruiting workflows unchanged.
  • Expected to be generally available to Workday Recruiting customers in early calendar year 2027.

Workday has announced Workday Candidate Profile, a reusable profile that lets job seekers save their information once and use it whenever they apply for a job at a company that hires through Workday. Workday unveiled it at Workday Rising 2026 in Las Vegas.

Today, applying through a Workday-powered career site usually means creating a new account for each employer and retyping the same work history. With Candidate Profile, a job seeker signs in with an email address and a one-time code — no new password — and their saved contact information, work history, education and skills fill in the application. They can review and change anything, add detail and answer employer-specific questions, such as how they heard about the role, before submitting.

What Workday says it changes

  • About 80% of standard fields pre-filled before the candidate types anything, which Workday expects to make applying about 40% faster than completing the same form by hand.
  • Mobile sign-in and apply, which Workday highlights for hourly and frontline workers who often job-hunt on their phones.
  • No change for employers: career sites, screening questions, validations and existing recruiting workflows stay in place.

Workday frames the launch around drop-off: it cites that 60% of candidates abandon applications because of length and friction, and that the average job search lasts 11 weeks. Every abandoned application is a candidate the employer never sees; incomplete ones mean recruiters chase missing details.

"Filling out an application should be simple and seamless and nobody should have to retype their resume every time they apply for a job," said Gerrit Kazmaier, president, product and technology, Workday.

Not a screening tool

Workday is explicit that Candidate Profile does not decide who gets hired: it does not rank, recommend or reject anyone. It only fills in information the job seeker chose to save, and the job seeker decides what each employer sees.

Analyst Kyle Lagunas, founder and principal analyst at Kyle & Co., said in the release that the feature "flips" the long-standing practice of making job seekers prove who they are from scratch on every application, so that "recruiters start the conversation with context instead of a blank form."

Availability

Workday Candidate Profile is expected to be generally available to Workday Recruiting customers in early calendar year 2027. The release does not mention pricing or regional limits.

It was one of several Rising announcements on hiring: Workday also gave its Talent Acquisition Agent "autopilot" capabilities. See our round-up of Workday Rising 2026.

Why it matters

Workday's hiring platform sits behind career sites at thousands of employers, so a portable candidate profile could change application completion rates across a large share of enterprise hiring — and gives Workday a direct relationship with job seekers, not only with employers. For talent-acquisition teams the practical questions are whether it lifts completed applications without lowering quality, how pre-filled data interacts with existing screening questions and duplicate-candidate rules, and what candidates are told about where their saved data goes. Nothing changes until general availability in early 2027.
