Google confirmed it began offering voluntary exit packages in June 2026 to some employees in Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Switzerland, as Alphabet works to contain costs during heavy AI spending. In Switzerland, staff who accepted got one month's salary per year of service, capped at 12 months, and DeepMind was reportedly excluded. The move follows earlier buyout programs in some U.S. and British divisions.
