Workers are facing a ‘crisis of disengagement’
Glassdoor Chief Economist Daniel Zhao says a low-hire market, layoff anxiety, AI uncertainty and burnout are driving a "crisis of disengagement" among workers. Glassdoor research found anxiety about layoffs is rising faster than actual layoffs, and reports cited show U.S. employee engagement at its lowest level since 2011. Teams that introduced AI with a clearly explained integration plan reported a 15-point higher engagement rate, and employees whose managers actively backed their AI use showed a 48% engagement rate versus 30% for those who did not mention it.
