Workday to Cut About 2.5% of Workforce, Mainly in Product and Technology
Workday is cutting approximately 2.5% of its workforce, primarily in its Product and Technology team, and reducing some leased office space as part of reorganizations announced September 29, 2026, according to a Form 8-K filed with the SEC. It estimates $65 million to $80 million in charges — about $40–55 million in severance and related cash costs, $10 million in stock-based compensation and $15 million in lease impairments — mostly in the third quarter of fiscal 2027, while reiterating its fiscal 2027 guidance apart from GAAP operating margin and saying it will keep hiring in key strategic areas. Based on Workday's roughly 21,000 employees, Seeking Alpha estimates about 525 roles are affected.
